Problem

The Chinese in textbooks isn't the Chinese people post on Xiaohongshu. I was already reading posts there and wanted to study the words I actually ran into.

Overview

Turns Xiaohongshu (RedNote) posts into Chinese vocabulary, flashcards and quizzes, so you learn from real posts instead of textbook sentences.

HSK progress tracker with words learned per level

What I built

01Pulls Xiaohongshu (RedNote) posts, reads text from images with OCR, and splits it into words with HSK levels and CC-CEDICT meanings.
02Spaced-repetition flashcards on the FSRS algorithm, with context sentences, tone drills and text-to-speech.
03LLM-graded Chinese quizzes with batched requests to stay under rate limits, plus stats on mistakes and trends.
04Python backend auto-deployed with GitHub Actions; installable Next.js PWA with Google login.
